Safety Guidelines
Your safety and the safety of Elders is our priority.
For Elders
- You will always be contacted by phone before any visit
- You are never obligated to accept help — you can decline at any time
- Volunteers are matched through coordinators who know your community
- If anything feels wrong, contact your coordinator immediately
- Never share financial information or give money to a volunteer
For Volunteers
- Always contact the Elder by phone before visiting
- Respect the Elder's home, privacy, and boundaries
- Only provide the type of help that was requested
- Never accept money or gifts for your service
- Report any concerns to your coordinator right away
- If you feel unsafe at any time, leave and contact the coordinator
What to Expect
All support is coordinated through a community coordinator. The coordinator:
- Reviews every request before assigning a volunteer
- Matches volunteers based on location, skills, and availability
- Follows up after every visit to check on both the Elder and volunteer
- Is available to address any concerns or issues
Reporting Concerns
If you have any safety concerns about a volunteer visit, contact your community coordinator. You can also reach the Minoo team through your dashboard.
In an emergency, always call 911.
For non-emergency community support, contact your band office or local social services.
